High End Jewelry Designers Biography
Source(google.com.pk)Lake Oswego jewelry designer Kerry Yu will represent the city of Portland this winter during the RAW annual Indie Awards Show in Hollywood on Jan. 13.
Yu’s line of jewelry, O’Pearl Brands, was titled Portland’s Accessory of the Year on Nov. 15 at the Bassanova Ballroom. O’Pearl Brands was also chosen among more than 10,000 contestants across the United States as a national finalist.
“I didn’t even give it a second thought that I would become a national finalist,” she said. “I’m just following my passion.”
Yu’s passion is to create bold, classic yet modern jewelry from semi-precious stones and pearls. Her jewelry line includes wedding necklaces that feature two white freshwater teardrop pearls with a long sterling silver chain and bolder necklaces that feature braided leather, natural stone, agate, feathers and crystal beads. Earrings range from simple pendants to dangling chandeliers made of crystal, jade, pearl, silver and semi-precious stones.
“As a jewelry designer I always want to deliver a message of human power,” she said. “The power that makes us unique, makes us feel capable and gives us confidence to feel beautiful regardless of age, color, shape and size.
“My jewelry makes a big bold statement, and when people wear it they feel confident and proud.”

Through all her success and travels, Yu said she works to design jewelry that is “a little high end” but not “museum style.” Most importantly, she wants her jewelry to make women of all ages feel beautiful.
“My jewelry carries the message: Live loud,” she said. “When you put on my jewelry you will feel vibrant and you will feel alive. It’s a statement that you are proud of yourself and that you live as loud, young and beautiful as you feel.”

Stéphanie Haegelsteen has been passionate for jewellery since she was young. Shortly after she turned 18, she decided to realize her dream and started to study gemmology and jewellery design, first in Antwerp and then in California. After that, she opened a first jewellery design studio in Los Angeles. Back in Belgium in 2002, she decides to start working as a private jeweller, in order to offer high-end jewellery under a new concept. Since then, her reputation has grown well beyond Belgium.
This weeks Designer Spotlight focuses on Goncalo Campos, a Portuguese product designer and traveler, inspired by the process of transformation, materials and rich life experiences.
Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? Where are you located?
So I was, born in Portugal, but for the last 6 years I've been traveling, living and working from many different places like Lisbon, Venice, Paris, or Porto, but most recently London. I consider the freedom that my practice as a product designer allows, to be extremely precious. I can design, produce products by myself, I can do it for another company, I am able to travel and meet all sorts of people and get to learn so much about people's ways of life. All these very rich experiences keep me ever more curious and motivated to keep experimenting and learning about all that surrounds us, and what still is to come.
What's the story behind your designs? What inspires you?
When I design, I always give priority to what the material and the processes used to transform it allow. A great example of that is the Comion collection I designed trying to use the least material possible, while still having a strong and impressive shape. Something that no other process besides 3D printing would permit.
Focusing on the material also allows me to create a narrative. With the Sticks collection, a simple series of cylinders gain texture, suggesting the grain of wood that will always be different since it's randomly generated by the printing process. So interestingly, what starts as a simple geometric arrangement ends up suggesting nature, effectively using a high end technological process to generate this natural and unpredictable finish.
