Jewelry Design Center Biography
Source(google.com.pk)Alex Woo has been designing jewelry for over a decade to much acclaim and success. With her father, a master bench jeweler, serving as her mentor, Alex has grown up learning an appreciation for gems, precious metals and fine craftsmanship.
From studying fine arts and jewelry design at an Ivy League university and abroad in Paris, to winning the National Women’s Jewelry Association’s design competition in 1998, art and form has always been her passion.
Born and raised in New York City, with her midtown Manhattan showroom and design studio, Alex embodies the spirit and passion of a true New Yorker. She draws inspiration from her travels around the world and has been awarded by a panel of experts from the JCK Show Design Center as one of the Rising Stars - one of the most prestigious and coveted accolades in the industry.
Alex Woo delicately balances the trendy “must have” and the classic into sleek and stylish designs that evoke the bold strength of today’s women, while keeping intact their natural femininity. Challenging herself to find unique and intriguing ways to accessorize, each piece is handcrafted often signed by the designer, so the quality is unsurpassed. As a direct result, Alex Woo has attracted an established client list of fashion editors, stylists, trendsetters and celebrities, and was named to Crain’s Business’s “40 Under 40” list of rising stars and successful people in New York.
Alex Woo jewelry is sold at Henri Bendel, select Nordstroms, fine boutiques and jewelry stores nationwide.
Alice studied Contemporary Jewelry Design in Brussels.
There she started using recycled Plexiglass
and began experimenting with geometric patterns to create her designs.
This allows her to play with ideas and create out of the ordinary compositions.
The result is a piece that is, each time, original and unique.
Her work has been called fiercly feminine and empowering.
These eye catching designs are definite head turners,
and become a statement piece for any outfit.
Alice Springs is also a singer/performer
who has worked in solo and collaborative projects.
She founded Moustache Collectif, which became a platform for
young emerging artists from different parts of the globe.
Alice's mix of artistic influences, which began early, will continue evolving, reinforcing her eye and appetite for pure geometrical harmony in her jewelry designs.

"...the work is futuristic, ethnic and fiercely feminine!..."
Alice Springs is not your usual Jeweler, she works with an array of materials and plays around with “out-of-the-ordinary” looks and ideas.
The girls at Ibiza Diaries got together again with on trend Jewelry Designer Alice Springs to ask her a few questions about her brand, Ibiza and what’s coming next!
What made you become a Jewelry Designer?
I lived in Brussels where I studied contemporary jewelry design. I studied painting and have architect parents so jewelry design was a way for me to combine all of this and earn a living. I’ve always loved fashion and costume jewelry is a perfect way to stay artistic!
Describe the style of your Jewelry…
Plexiglass was great for getting bright colors onto my designs. It is all upcycled plexi. I hand polish each piece and each one is unique. There are different sizes of necklaces and earrings as well. I love traveling and inspire myself for my designs with nature and traditional patterns, colors and geometry work from all over the world. I would say the work is futuristic, ethnic and fiercely feminine!
What’s next for Alice Springs Jewelry?
I want to make the whole production more and more Eco-friendly and use it as a means to raise awareness about the protection of the earth. I am starting to incorporate others materials and collaborations for future collections!
What we say…
These are definite head turners and we love that these are upcycled, sustainable pieces that give a special finish touch to any outfit. We’ll be following Alice closely this year.

"...design that is made from the heart..."
“There is strong shadow where there is much light”. A poetic quote the Alice Springs Jewelry proclaims on their website. As interesting shadows are created when strutting these strong geometrical jewellery, the I Love Belgium team has no problem with the given statement. But what does Alice Springs Jewelry stand for? Well, all designs are made of recycled plexiglass, hand tinted brass chains, polished and hand assembled with care. They provide design that is made from the heart, honouring individuality and the beauty and elegance found in nature’s geometry. The new spring summer collection, titled Haze, includes some of the Alice Springs classics ( the plexi triangle with gold chain tassels) while mixing it up with intricate black geometric forms. Unlike previous collections, this one is much darker. No bright colours to be found here. Instead we have muted greys, yellows and pinks. Another first timer? The transparent plexiglass! All of these necklaces are named after goddesses whose names start with a capital A: Athena, Apolonia, Anka, Aisha,… So be sure you act goddess-like when sporting an Alice Spring Jewelry piece! We know we will.

"...What’s most unique about this work is that it’s not just jewelry..."
Tell us about yourself and what you’re up to in life.
I'm Alice Springs and I’m an artist that has been focusing on jewelry design for the past 5 years.
You've lived in a lot of Europe?
Yes a lot of Europe.
Is that mostly where you’re from?
I feel more European than I do American, but I love being in America, and American culture, it's freedom, community and active youth...
You keep coming back, you must like it.
Yes and I’m glad to be here. I try to incorporate that multinationality into my work, that international sense of bringing people together no matter where they’re from and the universal totality of art and how that doesn’t need any language, it speaks for itself.
Is there anything that sticks out in your life in the past year or two that you can share with us?
Yes I guess it’s a big shift of priorities of how I do the work and why I do it. Most of the time what keeps coming back is creating a work ethic and thinking about the message behind the work and the reason why I do it. So giving it a little bit more depth, I have always had that but I was really focusing on the esthetic part of it. Now that I have that pretty much down I hope, I’m trying to put out a message there of basically taking care of the earth, taking care of one another, and sort of reaching out... Helping each other out as we’re going through these big shifts since we can’t close our eyes to it anymore. And it feels so much better and right in doing it, it gives you this other motivation. When I’m working I’m juggling with all these different things I’m trying to incorporate into one piece, there’s definitely a lot of research going on, a lot of traveling going on, meeting people, and I’m very open to what I see around me and in general I’m always curious about what people need, what are they're interested in, what am I interested in and that sort of thing.
So lets talk a little bit more about your work, is there a name that it goes by? What do you call it?
Well I call it Mystic Warriors, and it’s funny because when people actually wear the jewelry they feel empowered, that’s what I started hearing right away. That’s great because I’m all about empowering yourself through your own individuality, staying connected, and knowing that we’re all connected, and just being yourself. I try to make it accessible to everyone, even people who wouldn’t normaly go out and buy a special piece of jewelry.
